The sooner football becomes an indoor sport, the sooner Cannon Park will become a fortress, and the sooner World Domination will be a certainty. Yesterday's game was the classic game of two halves, and all because of the wind. As seasoned visitors to CP know all too well, the climate at the top end of Leverton Road is drastically different from that anywhere else in the country. A leisurely stroll around town at 12.30 was conducted in t-shirts amidst talk of sunglasses and shorts. Come kick off, everyone is multi-layered and dreaming of roaring open fires.

A near full-strength Badgers side struggled to get any sort of cohesion playing into t a strong wind in the first half, but thankfully Brigg played up to their role as the worst team in the league by steadfastedly refusing to adapt to having the wind behind them. Thus an instatntly forgettable half was forgotten. With the wind behind them in the second half, Retford United took the lead through a Ford header, soon replicated by Harvey, and then Godber finished the game off. Workmanlinke and comfortable, without really getting out of second gear.

Have to say the highlight of my day was the discovery of a new quiz machine in the clubhouse. Tempered somewhat by the price increase on a pint. What the Lord giveth etc.
