Worksop Issue ‘Hands Off' Warning to Clubs

Worksop Town have been the victims of several illegal approaches from other clubs during the last few days and manager Peter Rinkcavage says the club are ready to take action. He said, “I know of at least four clubs who have been talking to our players over the weekend without going through the correct channels. Open season on us is over and we will be contacting the F.A. if this continues. A couple of the managers are ones I have a good relationship with so I am obviously disappointed with this. If a player is contracted other clubs and managers must come through me and if they are non-contract then I expect seven days notice to be served.”

Kevin Sanasy and Alex Callery have both departed the club in the last few days. Sanasy is to join FC Halifax Town whilst Callery moves to Stocksbridge and Rinkcavage said, “Kev Sanasy's move has more to do with us playing at Ilkeston than anything else. He lives in Bradford and the travelling to training plus our home games became too much for him. We haven't really seen the best of him for a while but he goes with our best wishes. He is a lovely lad and a super player and if Halifax can get the best out of him then they have potentially the best finisher in the Unibond in their ranks.” Rinkcavage went on, “Alex has decided to move on and I am obviously disappointed with that but players have to make their own decisions when we are in the situation we are in. It is easy to throw the loyalty card at everyone but players have to look after themselves as they see fit. It's a shame but we move on.”

Rinkcavage was pleased with the performance and the result at Durham on Saturday which saw his side move into the top ten and just 2 points of the play-off places. He said, “It has been a horrendous week so I was delighted that the players stuck together and came through a potential banana skin. I thought we were very professional in the way we went about our business and the game was never really in doubt.” The Tigers manager was sent from the dug-out early in the match following an outburst he obviously regrets, “It was stupid and I apologised to the referee and linesman after the game. It was the stress and pressure of the days leading up to the game. I was actually going to sit in the stand for the game because I feared something like that could happen but with Gallows, my assistant playing, I thought I was needed on the bench but as it turns out I wasn't.”

The Tigers now travel to Boston United on Tuesday night and Rinkcavage said he was looking forward to the game, “At the moment I am just taking one day and one game at a time. Hopefully I will have a team to field on Tuesday and we will make a good account of ourselves. We had 13 outfield players available for Saturday's game so we can't really afford anyone to drop out at this stage so hopefully we will be ok.”
